A sold-out-in-four-days TEDx event, branded and built from scratch.
TEDxRapidCity was the first independently organized TEDx event in western South Dakota — "Reimagine Innovation," nine speakers across nuclear engineering, education, business, and community development, at The Dahl in Rapid City. The event needed a brand and site that could meet TED's own program standards while handling registration, ticketing, and promotion for an entirely community-run, first-year event.

The challenge
Running an independently licensed TEDx event means meeting TED's own brand and program standards while still building something that feels genuinely local — and doing it on a volunteer team's timeline, with ticketing, speaker applications, and event logistics all needing to work correctly on day one, with no track record and no do-over.
The approach
We built the event's brand and site as one connected package: an identity that fit within TED's own licensing and design guidelines while still feeling like a Rapid City event, a site built around registration and speaker applications instead of a static "save the date" page, and enough regional visibility to help a first-year event sell out before it had any history to point to.
- Event brand and identity built to work within TED's own licensing and design guidelines
- Site built around registration, ticketing, and speaker-application flows instead of a static announcement page
- Integrated ticketing so seats could be tracked and managed directly through the site
- Regional discoverability built around Rapid City and western South Dakota audiences with no prior event history to draw on
